The Stag Bar c. 1930s

From 1914 to Now

Newport Beach's Historic Stag Bar was originally established in 1914. Over the decades the Stag has gone through many transformations, visible in the photos dating back to the 1930s and 40s.

Over the years, the Stag bar played host to a number of interesting facts: the 100' long mahogany and copper bar top is the longest bar in the city.  The building has one of the old oldest liquor licenses in the county. From its inception and up until the 1930s, the hotel above the bar was known to be a brothel.
In August 2006, the Stag Bar was purchased by a local restauranteur and re-invented as "The District Lounge". The interior has been renovated and returned to its original luster. Its 100' long bar is complimented by the lush red leather upholstery, red velvet curtains, lavish wall paper, hand carved bar shelf, and vintage photographs throughout.
